Looking for the first dinosaur or the forefront of the great dynasty

What did the dinosaur look like and how is the oldest dinosaur ever discovered? These leaders have been looking for answers for many years.

For a long time, the oldest true dinosaurs were known species from the Argentine Ischigualasto Formation, dating to about 231.4 million years ago.

This was the case, for example, with the famous species Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis or Eoraptor lunensis, archaic dinosaurs that cannot be missing in the bottom of the dinosaur atlas. Two years ago, however, it was discovered that the dinosaur fauna of the Brazilian Santa Maria Formation is about 2 million years old, because a radiometric dataset determined that these sediments stood at 233.2 million years.

The oldest known dinosaurs have therefore become species such as Staurikosaurus pricei, Saturnalia tupiniquim or Buriolestes schultzi. The time of the origin of the dinosaur was thus placed in the geological age of karna (before 237 and 227 million years ago). Then suddenly there was a big change and the origin of the Dinosaur group was shifted back by 10 or even 15 million years.

At that time, a prehistoric reptile was discovered in Polish Silesia, which also has an area of ​​its discovery in its name, and this name was pedaled by a large group of archosaurs, who are the closest relatives of true dinosaurs. Their name is Silesaurids and the Polish species is Silesaurus opolensis, excavated in Krasiejow near Opole.

Asilisaurus kongwe was appearances

Asilisaurus kongwe was appearances a typical representative of the eledi silesaurid, a dinosauriform closely related to true dinosaurs. It was a long, moving archosaur that landed in the Middle Ages (about 245 million years ago) on the day of the day of African Tanzania. The famous Silesaurus opolensis, its fossils discovered in Polish Silesia, about 15 million years later.

Silesaurus was discovered in 2000 and was formally described by paleontologist Jerzy Dzik three years later. This thl reptile walked on upright legs, ml long neck and examine his head. The teeth were stamped and on the edge of the elis was a bone edge, which probably served to market plant food. At a length of about 2.3 meters, the silesaurus weighed about 30 kilograms. If necessary, he could probably get up on the back and play bipedn.

He lived during the Upper Triassic, about 230 million years ago, was also about the same age as the dinosaurs of the Ischigualasto Formation. Sm was definitely not the ancestor of the group Dinosauria, pesto led paleontologists to the first clue.

Gradually, silesaurides from several different continents were discovered and reversed. It turned out that they were not a rare group of archosaur reptiles, but that, on the contrary, they were known to be born and evolved.

Silesaurid dinosauriforms appeared in the Triassic and became extinct, and at its end, they have existed for more than 40 million years. He gave an interesting discovery of this species of sawflies again from Poland, in 2010, when fossil footprints of three-footprints of a potential dinosauromorph (perhaps a silesauride or even an archaic dinosaur) from layers about 246 million years old were described from the Svatokské Mountains.

Due to the geological status of these ichnofossils, their systematic validity was questionable. In the same year, the skeleton of the beach from Tanzania in Africa was described, which is today considered to be the oldest known silesauride. He received the scientific name Asilisaurus kongwe and its st in about 247 and 242 million years.

The fossils were discovered in the Manda Beds Formation from the Middle Triassic period and belonged to a silesauride about 1 and 3 meters long, weighing about 30 kilograms. It is interesting that the fossils of the other dinosauriform, which was given the scientific name Nyasasaurus parringtoni in 2013, could come from the same formation, and at around 243 million years old it could be by far the oldest known true dinosaur.

Unfortunately, the discovered fossil material is not sufficiently diagnostic, nor is it certain with certainty whether it was actually a dinosaur, a silesauride or the development of a primitive dinosauromorph. Despite this, thanks to African discoveries, we know that dinosaurs must have existed for at least 10 million years by two current record holders from Brazil.

The reason is simply because Silesauridae is the group of developers closest to the dinosaur and shared an ancestor with them. It follows that representatives of both groups, Dinosauria and Silesauridae, must have existed 245 million years ago.

The first small dinosaurs, a modest forerunner of the future rulers of the mainland, therefore appeared at a time when the effects of the greatest extinction in other planets, which took place at the turn of the Permian and the Triassic 252 million years ago, worsened. So let’s not forget birds among the dinosaurs, which are undoubtedly a specialized group of teropods, but it is clear that dinosaurs have existed on the planet for about 180 million years.
